Bruised But Not Beaten Beast

Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ON - As the Beast prepare for their second game in the most gruelling stretches of their season - three games in three days played in two different cities on the road - they will be doing so shorthanded once again, as a sixth skater joins the growing list of injured Beast players. It's a frustrating trend, but one that the team will have to learn from and play through for them to be successful this season. In the first game of their three game weekend, the Beast lost to the Missouri Mavericks 6-2. Stephon Thorne did not return to the game after the first period due to an upper body injury forcing Head Coach Brent Hughes to juggle the line-ups.

"While injuries are always a major part of hockey, since our team began we have never had such a swarm at once," said President and General Manager Cary Kaplan this morning. "In the past three weeks Tyler Donati, Elgin Reid, Phil Oreskovic, Antoine Corbin, Josh McQuade have all been kept out of the lineup for extended periods, and Jason Dale, Stephon Thorne and Tyson Fawcett have missed games."

Given the number of players unable to suit up for the Beast last few weeks, team management has been scouring lists of available players in an attempt to fill as many holes as possible in the line-up until players are eligible to return from injury.

"Coach Brent Hughes and I are working tirelessly everyday to make sure to reverse the on-ice trend immediately," said Kaplan "At the same time, most of our group should be healthy soon and we continue to search aggressively to upgrade our team further. We expect an announcement in the next few days that the fans will be excited about."

"The Beast are committed to winning hockey - and being competitive every night. This has not been the case every game this season, and changing that is the top priority."

The Beast will see the Quad City Mallards for seventh time this season with the puck drop scheduled for 8:05PM EST tonight.
