Evansville IceMen News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- With less than 90 seconds left in a tie game, Cam Reid scored to help the Reading Royals defeat the Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, by a score of 4-3. Evansville (8-13-2-1, 19 points) has now lost seven games in a row and finishes winless on its six game home stand.

The IceMen struck first. Brandon Wong fired a shot that hit the side of the net. Colin Murray picked up the loose puck and fired in a wrap around shot to put the IceMen up 1-0. Patrick Kennedy added his eighth assist of the season on Murray's second goal in an IceMen uniform.

Less than 90 seconds later, Evansville added to its lead. Jim McKenzie stole the puck in the Reading zone. McKenzie slid the puck to Kale Kerbashian. Kerbashian blasted one from the high slot into the back of the net. The Thunder Bay, ON native's seventh of the season put the IceMen up by two.

Reading answered later in the first. Sean Wiles put in a Zach Davies rebound to cut the IceMen lead to 2-1.

The Royals tied it with two minutes to go in the opening frame. Mike Marcou's shot was blocked by Donnie Harris, but Olivier Labelle grabbed the puck and tucked it underneath the cross bar to knot the game up at two heading into the second intermission.

In the second period, the IceMen reclaimed the lead. Murray rushed down the ice to wave off an icing call. Wong worked the puck free from a scrum behind the net back to Murray who zipped a pass to Patrick Kennedy right in front of the net. Kennedy slammed in his sixth of the year to give the IceMen a 3-2 advantage.

Once again the Royals responded. Labelle poked the puck away from a tie up at the boards to the front of the IceMen net where Pat Mullane was waiting all alone. Mullane potted his ninth goal of the season to tie the game at three in the second period.

The game remained tied until late in the third period. With less than 90 seconds left. Reading's Brandon Alderson dished the puck to David Marshall who sent a cross crease feed to Reid. Reid pocketed the game winner to send the IceMen to their seventh consecutive loss, which ties a franchise record.

Evansville will play its final game before the holiday break as the IceMen hit the road to take on the Fort Wayne Komets on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. Central time.
