December 20, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

A mad scramble at the end of the game nearly resulted in a game tying goal for the Thunder but Olivier Roy and the Idaho Steelheads held off the Thunder 3-2

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder battle hard in the third, but fall to the Idaho Steelheads 3-2 Friday night in the first game of a three-in-three weekend series at Stockton Arena. Sebastian Collberg and Mike Pereira scored the two goals for the Thunder and were both on the ice for the final minute in which the Thunder put tremendous pressure on the Idaho defense. Unfortunately, former Thunder goaltender Olivier Roy stood tough and made a couple nice saves to keep his team on top and secure the win.

Quotes

"I don't know what happened exactly. I was chasing a guy to the back of the net and ended up just getting the loose puck. We were trying to emphasize getting action in front of the goalie's eyes and [Adam] Phillips made a great play getting it through. I didn't get much on it but it was enough I guess" - Mike Pereira on his 3rd goal in five games since returning from injury

"It was tough honestly. I didn't like the start I had to the season and then I got hurt so it was tough. But the time off gave me a chance to get healthy and also see the games from a different perspective. To be honest I just love being out there with the guys contributing and I'm glad to be back" - Pereira on his own game coming to fruition since coming off the IR

"We have to play a full sixty minutes and tonight we had a couple hiccups and gave them the game. We just have to come back tomorrow and not think about tonight's game too much" - Pereira on the Thunder's play tonight

"Our game plan was the same. We wanted to be simple, get the pucks deep, get the pucks out and I think we did a good job of that tonight. We had a couple breakdowns that led to their goals that we have to get rid of. With [Ryan] Constant out it's definitely tough, but it gives guys a chance to get more ice and step up into those roles so I think we're going to be all right" - Keith Seabrook on playing without Ryan Constant on the blueline

"We were better in the third. We were able to create some chances in front of their net and we were able to bury a couple of them. It doesn't have to be pretty for our team right now and we have to score on those chances like we did on the Pereira goal" - Head Coach Rich Kromm on his team's performance throughout the game

"One was a shorthanded opportunity where our defense got caught flat footed and weren't able to recover and the other was just a simple missed pass that went right on their tape. We handed that one to them and without those mistakes I think we walk away with a win" Coach Kromm on what his team is focusing on heading into Saturday's game
