Last night the Cyclones stormed out to an early lead with a goal from Josh Shalla 45 seconds into the game. Minutes later, in an attempt to regain momentum, Justin Sawyer challenged Jaynen Rissling to a fight. Kevin Hart also dropped the gloves with Tom Serratore in the opening frame. The Jackals responded with two goals 62 seconds apart to take a 2-1 lead. First, Steven Shamanski capitalized on the power-play and Mitch Holmberg followed with his fourth goal in two games as a Jackal. Stephan Vigier tied the game late in the second period and set up an exciting final frame. Brodie Reid scored the game-winner at 6:44 of the third period with a shot from the bottom of the right circle. The Jackals played shutdown defense the rest of the way and received strong goaltending from Travis Fullerton, who made 34 saves in the 3-2. The Jackals are 21-13-6 all-time against Cincinnati.
The Jackals have found tremendous success this season when they have posted at least a trio of tallies. Elmira is 15-0-1 this year in games where they score three or more times. They are 7-0-0 when scoring exactly three goals.
