December 20, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
FORT WAYNE, IN - In the sixth of 11 head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were defeated by the Fort Wayne Komets on Saturday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum by a final score of 3-1. With the loss, the Fuel fell to 5-16-2-3 overall this season and with 15 points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.
After a physical, fast-paced start to the game, Robert Czarnik delivered the Fuel a 1-0 lead at 3:52 of the opening period with a top-shelf finish, assisted by Fuel captain Mike Duco and defenseman Dan Ford. Following a tight-checking stretch of end-to-end chances, the Komets equalized at 10:48 of the first when Michael Embach deflected a Gabriel Beaupre shot past Indy goaltender Mac Carruth to tie the game at one heading into the first intermission.
In the middle period, a rash of Fuel penalties cost Indy as the Komets collected a pair of power-play goals, from Eric Faille at 10:12 and Garrett Meurs at 19:04, to push the Fort Wayne lead to 3-1 and, after a scoreless third period, establish the Komets' final margin of victory. A seven-save third period capped off a 29 save performance for Fort Wayne goaltender Pat Nagle while Carruth made 23 saves in defeat for the Fuel.
