Game Preview

Before heading off for the Christmas break, the Kalamazoo Wings will host the Toledo Walleye in the first half of a home and home series. The two teams will finish the two game set next Saturday in the first ever ECHL Outdoor Game at Fifth-Third Ball Park in Toledo, Ohio.

Looking to head into the holidays on a winning note, the K-Wings will be attempting to snap a two-game winless streak. Kalamazoo, who lost last night 5-4 to the Fort Wayne Komets, is currently in fifth place in the North Division and is just two points behind the Cincinnati Cyclones for fourth.

Toledo rolls into Wings Stadium looking to extend a four-game (3-0-1-0) unbeaten streak. The Walleye, who are 9-1-2-0 in their last 12 games, enter tonight tied with the Fort Wayne Komets for first place in the North Division.

A Taste of the Outdoors

While the K-Wings will battle the Walleye next Saturday in the ECHL's first-ever Outdoor game, they are bringing a sampling of that game to Wings Stadium tonight. Kalamazoo will be wearing their special Outdoor Game jerseys

Rolling Along

Forwards Gergo Nagy and Curtis Valk enter tonight on four-game point streaks. Besides the four-game point streak, Valk is also riding a K-Wings season-high three-game goal streak.

Reeling in the Fish

The K-Wings are 42-20-4-4 all-time against the Toledo Walleye. The 42 victories versus Toledo represent the most victories for Kalamazoo against any team in the ECHL.

Nearing History Kalamazoo's Joel Martin, who earlier this week received his second CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week award of the season, is closing in on K-Wings' ECHL history. Martin is one win shy of establishing the K-Wings ECHL record for victories (59).

Matching Last Year Last night the Walleye won their 10th road game of the season. With a road mark of 10-2-0-0, the Walleye have already matched their road win total from a season ago.

Lighting Up the Board The Walleye are a tough team to keep off the scoreboard. Toledo, who ranks second overall in the league and tops in the Eastern Conference averaging 4.28 goals per game, have failed to score two or more goals in just four of their 26 games this season.

Rookie of the Year

Toledo's Tyler Barnes posted four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in the Walleye's 4-0 victory last night against the Indy Fuel. Barnes, who is currently on a four-game point streak, has registered points in 11 out of his last 12 games.

Simply Winning Toledo enters tonight on a four-game (3-0-1-0) unbeaten streak. The Walleye, who are 9-1-2-0 in their last 12 games, suffered their lone regulation defeat in that span on December 12th in a 2-0 setback to the K-Wings.
