Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins won their only game of the weekend 8-2 over the Springfield Falcons on Saturday. The Bruins are 2-1-0-0 (4 points), putting them in a tie for sixth place in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins have played at least two games less than every other team in the division. Head coach Scott Gordon's club has had key contributions from its power play to go with seven goals combined from veteran forwards Eric Healey and Eric Nickulas. The Bruin power play unit is sixth in the league with a 23.3% success rate (7/30), while holding opponents to an average 2.67 goals per game, which is fifth best in the league. Healey continues to lead the Bruins in scoring with nine points (4g, 5a) including a hat trick Saturday at Springfield. Nickulas has six points (3g, 3a) and had two goals Saturday.
Rookies, C Ben Walter, C Tyler Redenbach and D Jonathan Sigalet continue to make huge contributions offensively. Walter has had three assists in the past two games, while Redenbach has tallied four points (1g, 3a) in the last two games. Sigalet has dominated from the blue line on the power play recording three points (2g, 1a) all on the man-advantage. Tim Thomas earned his first victory of the season Saturday stopping 28 of 30 shots. It was his 39th win in a Providence Bruins uniform.
The Bruins will play two games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center this weekend, Friday, October 28 versus the Hartford Wolf Pack and Saturday, October 29 against the Lowell Lock Monsters. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. On Friday, fans will receive Providence Bruins Magnet Schedules as they enter the game, courtesy of Shaw's Supermarkets.
