October 24, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release
Rewind:
Friday, River Rats 6 vs. Lock Monsters 3
Aleksander Suglobov scored twice and the visiting Albany River Rats added two empty net goals to take a 6-3 victory over the Lock Monsters for Lowell's first loss of the 2005-06 season. Kevin Nastiuk suffered the loss in net for Lowell in his professional debut. Pavel Brendl had a goal and an assist for the Lock Monsters.
Saturday, River Rats 6 vs. Lock Monsters 4
With the game tied 3-3 heading into the final period of play, Albany pushed in front with three third period goals en route to a 6-4 win at the Pepsi Center. Colin Forbes notched his first two goals of the season for Lowell in the losing effort as the River Rats swept the home-and-home series on Saturday evening. The Lock Monsters put up a season-high 45 shots on goal.
Sunday, Pirates 3 vs. Lock Monsters 1
Brad Richardson notched his first career goal Sunday night, but it was too little, too late as the Portland Pirates defeated Lowell 3-1 at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Richardson's goal came with just 49 seconds left in regulation and cut the Pirates lead to 2-1, but they answered right back 13 seconds later to seal the victory. Vitaly Kolesnik stopped 34 shots, including a penalty shot in the second frame, for the Lock Monsters.
Monsters Memos
- Rookie Brad Richardson put up his first points as a pro with a two-assist effort on Saturday evening in Albany. He added his first career goal on Sunday in Portland.
- Three rookies made their pro debut this weekend for Lowell. G Kevin Nastiuk, wingers Dan DaSilva and Kevin Estrada each appeared for the first time. DaSilva picked up his first career point with an assist in Portland.
