Story Ideas
Cam Janssen - The penalty minutes may be down but his game has risen to a new level. He notched four points in 70 games last season and is on pace to pass that number by Halloween. Has he re-shaped his game to fit better within the new rules?
Ryan Murphy - The penalty killing aficionado has ramped up his offensive numbers to start the season following a career year. He is now one of the more respected voices in the lockerroom and fills his soldier with skill role to perfection.
Rat Bites:
* The Albany River Rats earned the 1,000TH point in the team's 13-year franchise history with their second straight home win on Saturday against Lowell.

* C Nicklas Bergfors, New Jersey's first round choice in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, made a splash in his first two AHL games. The league's youngest player notched an assist on Friday and turned in a two (1-1) point performance in Saturday's victory.
* The River Rats penalty killing unit ranks first in the AHL (92.0%) having turned away their opponents on 46 of 50 shorthanded situations.
* LW Ryan Murphy has points (2-2) in the last three games and is tied for third on the club with a plus two rating, after leading Albany with a plus 15 mark last season.
* G Ari Ahonen became just the fourth netminder in team history to earn his 50TH AHL victory with a 41-save, first star performance on Saturday at Pepsi Arena.
