
Bonk Named Runner-Up for ECHL Player of the Month

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., - The ECHL announced today that Bakersfield Condors center Dave Bonk has been named a runner-up for the CCM TACKS ECHL Player of the Month award for March.
Bonk, 23, scored ten goals and nine assists for 19 points through 18 games in March. The 5-foot-11, 191-pound forward also carried a Condors season-high five game goal streak from March 25th through April 1st, recording seven goals during that span. Bonk held a plus-minus rating of +10 on the month with two power play goals and one shorthanded tally at Long Beach on the 25th.
Bonk is in his second season as a professional following his rookie campaign with the Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League in 2004-05. Playing alongside NHL veterans such as Bryan Smolinski, Chris Chelios, Sean Avery and Derian Hatcher during the lockout, Bonk racked up 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points in 66 games. Prior to his entry into the pro ranks, Bonk spent four years with the Northern Michigan Wildcats of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The Brandon, Manitoba native scored nine goals and 16 assists in 74 games from 2000-04.
Bakersfield's regular season finale takes place Saturday, April 8th at home against the Alaska Aces. SpongeBob Squarepants will be in the house to entertain fans of all ages throughout the evening courtesy of Bright House Networks, 101.5 KGFM and Superkart Racing.
