Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Storm Chasers starting pitcher Scott Blewett tossed six solid innings and third baseman Erick Mejia mashed a two-run home run as Omaha topped the Albuquerque Isotopes 5-1 on Wednesday night at Werner Park.

Blewett (6.0 IP, 7 H, R, ER, BB, 2 K) has allowed just one earned run in each of his last two starts, earning his fourth victory. The bullpen triumvirate of Gabe Speier (1.0 IP, H, K), Andres Machado (1.0 IP, 2 K) and Richard Lovelady (1.0 IP, K) combined for three scoreless one-hit frames. Isotopes starter Tim Melville (7.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 5 K) suffered the defeat.

Mejia put the Storm Chasers ahead in the opening frame with his two-run blast to right. That score would remain the same until the sixth, when SS Humberto Arteaga came across on a wild pitch prior to CF Bubba Starling 's RBI single, doubling the advantage to 4-0. Both teams would then swap tallies in the seventh to complete the scoring.

Mejia (2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI), Arteaga (2-3, 2 R, 2B) and Starling (2-3, RBI) all posted multi-hit efforts in the victory, while Isotopes CF Yonathan Daza (2-4), 3B Pat Valaika (2-4) and 1B Brian Mundell (2-3, R, BB) tallied two hits each as well. Colorado Rockies All-Star outfielder Charlie Blackmon also recorded one hit in three at-bats for Albuquerque as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment.

The two teams are set to complete their three-game series on Thursday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm CT. RHP Josh Staumont (0-3, 2.83) is expected to get the nod for the Storm Chasers, while LHP Kyle Freeland (NR) is anticipated to start for the Isotopes.

Tickets for that game and all remaining Storm Chasers home contests can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office from noon until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at (402) 738-5100.
