Tonight
The Saskatoon Blades (15-12-1-0) roll out the red carpet to thousands of Teddy Bears, which will come tumbling down from the stands as soon as the team scores the first goal of the game against the Prince Albert Raiders (11-14-1-1).
This is the second contest in as many nights between the two Highway 11 rivals.
Last night, the Blades stormed to a 3-2 victory, thanks to captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere's overtime winner late in the third period.
It was Saskatoon's first win over Prince Albert in three games this season, and fourth in the last six meetings dating back to last season.
Last night's victory pushed Saskatoon into solo-second place in the East Division, one point clear of the Brandon Wheat Kings.
This is Saskatoon's final game of the first half of the season, wrapping up a challenging stretch of four games in five nights which included an overtime victory over Moose Jaw on Tuesday, and a setback to Winnipeg on Wednesday.
Who to Watch
Langley, BC product Aidan De La Gorgendiere netted his first game-winning goal of the season last night, icing a 3-2 victory over the Raiders to open the season series. The first-year captain has two goals and 19 assists this season, leading the team in defensive scoring with 21 points in 28 games.
Forward Trevor Wong scored the Blades go-ahead goal in the first period last night, his seventh goal of the season. The Vancouver, BC product has points in four of the last five games.
Draft eligible forward Brandon Lisowsky sits second in goals on the team with 15 to his name. This includes a natural hat-trick in Moose Jaw on Tuesday. The sophomore winger has nine points in the last five games.
Alternate captain Tristen Robins is hunting a third-straight Teddy Bear Toss goal, having netted the launching marker in the previous two versions of the sacred tradition.
Teddy Bears can be found at Co-Op locations across Saskatoon and the surrounding area, as well as The Frozen Pond on game day!
