
Biter and Arteaga Shine in Cutters Victory

Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters won their seventh consecutive game to start the 2015 season with a 6-3 win against the Batavia Muckdogs. The Crosscutters found themselves locked in a pitcher's duel for a second straight night coming off a 15 inning victory against West Virginia. Leading 1-0 in the fifth inning Venn Biter would give the Cutters a three run cushion driving in a pair of runs with a single.
Trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning, Batavia would break up Alejandro Arteaga's shutout bid off an RBI single from Korey Dunbar. Arteaga put together the longest appearance this season for a Cutters pitcher going seven innings before handing things over to the bullpen. Jan Hernandez would drive in the final run of the night for the Cutters in the seventh inning driving in Biter and giving him six runs batted in. With the RBI single, Hernandez has now produced all of his run scoring hits at Susquehanna Bank Park this season.
Arteaga moves to 2-0 on the season striking out five batters while walking just one and surrendering four hits through seven innings. Rob Tasin earned his second save of the season for the Cutters registering the final two outs in the ninth inning after Batavia plated two runs against Kenny Koplove. Venn Biter finished the night 3 for 4 with three singles, three runs scored and one RBI. Jan Hernandez went 1 for 4 on the night. The Cutters have now won seven games in a row for the first time since July 8th - 14th, 2010. Williamsport has also had at least eight hits in each of their first seven games to start the 2015 season.
