Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY-- The Buffalo Bisons dropped the fourth game of a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs by a score of 11-6 on a breezy Saturday at Sahlen Field.
The game, which saw the two teams combine for six errors, started an hour and ten minutes late due to rainy conditions in downtown Buffalo. Despite the conditions, Iowa had their bats working early when Brennen Davis had an RBI groundout to make the score 1-0 for the visiting Cubs.
Miles Mastrobuoni hit an RBI-double to center field, bringing home Dom Nunez and doubling Iowa's lead to 2-0 before a stolen base by Nelson Velazquez saw the ball get away from Ernie Clement, allowing Miles Mastrobuoni to score and extend the Iowa lead to 3-0.
The Iowa lead would swell to 10-0 before Buffalo got to work in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, Spencer Horwitz would single and bring home Otto Lopez to runners all around for Buffalo and make the score 10-1 in favor of the Cubs. Wynton Bernard would have an RBI-groundout to score Addison Barger and cut the Iowa lead to 10-2. A Vinny Capra walk would make the score 10-3 and yet again keep the bases loaded for the Herd as the rally would continue.
Ernie Clement would hit a line-drive double to score Wynton Bernard and advance Vinny Capra to second, 10-4. A Stevie Berman single would clear the bases for Buffalo and put the Bisons within striking distance heading to the ninth inning at 10-6.
A Christopher Morel home run in the top of the ninth would prove to be enough to keep the game out of reach for Buffalo, opening up an 11-6 lead for the visiting Cubs that they would not relinquish.
The Herd take on Iowa in the closing game of the series tomorrow at Sahlen Field with a 1:05 first pitch. It will be the final meeting between Buffalo and Iowa this season.
