Bisons Struggle to Score in 3-2 Loss at Scranton Wilkes-Barre

Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Bisons fell to the division-leading RailRiders', 3-2, from PNC Field on Saturday evening.
The Herd had plenty of opportunities in Saturday evening's game, but they struggled to get the big hit with runners in scoring position.
The Bisons were able to get on the scoreboard first in this game. In the top of the 3rd inning, with Nash Knight and Christian Colon in scoring position, Kevin Smith poked a single to right field, scoring both runners to give the Herd an early 2-0 lead.
The RailRiders didn't take long to respond to the Bisons' two-run top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the inning, Hoy Jun Park homered on the first at-bat to right field. Later in the inning, with Chris Gittens on third base, Trey Amburgey hit a home run of his own to left field, giving Scranton Wilkes-Barre a 3-2 lead.
The Herd would see more opportunities to score in this game, but they failed to score through the remaining six innings. In the top of the 6th inning, the Bisons had runners on the corners with one out, but Logan Warmoth struck out and Knight flew out to end the inning.
In the top of the 8th, Tyler White was able to work his way on base with a lead-off walk. The veteran found his way to third base after a pair of wild pitches, putting the tying run just 90 feet from home plate, but the club failed to score White.
The Bisons had one more chance in the 9th inning after Christian Colon singled with one out. Colon then worked his way to second base on a wild pitch and would be moved to third after a groundout to the other side of the infield. Yet again the tying run was just 90 feet from the plate and the club failed to score.
Both teams were able to put the ball in play often, but neither team was able to string hits together to put more runs on the board. The two teams combined for 18 hits, but only scored five runs, leaving a combined 22 runners on base.
Nick Allgeyer, who started on the mound for the Herd, found himself in trouble often during his five innings on the bump. More often than not though, Allgeyer was able to work his way out of trouble. In the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings, the RailRiders put runners in scoring position. On all of those occasions, the southpaw was able to work his way out of the jam.
Allgeyer pitched five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. Scranton Wilkes-Barre did their damage against the left-hander with their power, which is not new for the rival club.
Christian Colon came into this series hot already and he hasn't cooled down one bit. The veteran batter went 3-for-4 in Saturday's game and is now 5-for-12 in the series, good for a .416 batting average.
The Bisons (12-10) will take on the RailRiders (16-6) Sunday afternoon to close out the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
