Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the final game of a two-game set at PNC Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo has lost five straight, including a 12-2 defeat to the RailRiders in the series opener on Thursday. The Herd will conclude the 2015 season with a three-game set in Pawtucket against the PawSox starting tomorrow.
vs. the RailRiders
The Bisons and RailRiders have split the first 16 contests they've played with tonight's winner also picking up the season series win. Buffalo won the season series last year, 9-7. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre clinched the IL North division title with last night's win.
Chad Jenkins
RHP CHAD JENKINS makes his 11th start of the season tonight. The righty allowed just two runs in 4.2 innings of work last Sunday but fell to the RailRiders in Buffalo, 2-0. Jenkins is 4-1 with a 3.26 ERA in 17 games (3 starts) away from Coca-Cola Field. Jenkins has posted a 2.25 ERA in four games against the RailRiders this year (12.0 IP, 6 SO).
MattVP
International League MVP INF MATT HAGUE recorded his 55th multi-hit game of the season last night. Hague now has 175 hits on the season with four games left to reach SS Jhonny Peralta's (2014) Bisons record of 181 hits. Hague also leads the IL in average (.344), RBI (88), on-base pct. (.421) and total bases (242) and is 2nd in slugging pct. (476).
Marcus Stroman
RHP MARCUS STROMAN is scheduled to continue his MLB rehab assignment with the Bisons on Monday in Pawtucket. He tossed 4.2 hitless innings for Single-A Lansing on Wednesday with just one walk and seven strikeouts. The righty, who was 2-4 with a 3.03 ERA in seven starts with the Bisons last year before his MLB debut, tore the ACL in his left knee during Blue Jays spring training.
Bisons Bits
RHP BOBBY KORECKY is second on the Bisons modern era list in both appearances (124) and saves (29). He is just one save shy of RHP Fernando Cabrera's team record...INF ANDY BURNS has 136 hits on the season, the 6th most in the International League this year. If not for Matt Hague's MVP season, Burns' 133 hits would be the most for a Bison since OF Jesus Feliciano had 154 hits in 2009.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (76-57) were off last night and will host the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Rogers Centre (7:07 p.m.). Toronto leads the Yankees by 1.5 games in the AL East with 29 games left in the season. Former Bison Drew Hutchison starts for the Blue Jays tonight.
