Rochester Red Wings News Release

PAWTUCKET, RI - Pat Dean capped a marvelous 2015 campaign with his fifth complete game of the season as the Rochester Red Wings beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 2-1 Friday night at McCoy Stadium.

The nine-inning gem put Dean (12-11) at 179.0 innings this season, tops among all minor leaguers. Only one minor leaguer has more than Dean's five complete games (Jorge Ortego, 6). He now has a career-high 12 wins, the most by a Red Wings starting pitcher since Dave Gassner won 16 in 2004.

Dean's dominance of the PawSox (57-84) continued Friday as he improved to 3-0 with a 0.89 ERA (3 ER, 30.1 IP), 19 hits allowed, four runs, five walks and 15 strikeouts. Over his final five starts of the season, Dean went 4-1 with a 1.21 ERA (5 ER, 37.1 IP), 29 hits allowed, four walks and 14 strikeouts.

Friday night, Dean retired the first nine batters of the game and surrendered just one hit through five innings. Oswaldo Arcia staked him to a 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the fifth. James Beresford added an insurance in the eighth with a single. Rochester would need it as Humberto Quintero doubled to start the bottom of the eighth for Pawtucket and later scored on a Jonathan Roof single.

The PawSox were set down in order in five innings including the ninth. Dean induced nine groundouts and 10 flyouts. He needed just 97 pitches, throwing 72 for strikes.

Allan de San Miguel went 2-for-3 with a double in his first start of the season. The game took an hour and 55 minutes.

Rochester begins its final series of the season Saturday when the Red Wings travel to Allentown, PA to face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for a three-game series Saturday-Monday. Jose Berrios makes his final start of the season tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
