Bats Lose to Clippers, 6-2, 8th Straight Loss

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Louisville Bats (63-78) dropped game one of two against the Columbus Clippers (81-60) by the score of 6-2 Friday evening. The Bats are 5-16 against Columbus this season.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, the Bats were able to even the score after Kyle Waldrop hit a RBI single to score Juan Perez.

Later in the bottom of the fourth, the Bats were able to cut a two run lead in half after Juan Silva and Hernan Iribarren both singled before a ground ball RBI from Chris Berset.

Leading 5-2 in the eighth, Columbus tagged on another run after Jesus Aguilar hit a solo home run to left field. Aguilar went 3-for-3 on the night and had 6 RBIs for Columbus. This would be the final run of the game.

The loss makes it the eighth straight loss for the Bats. The last time that Louisville had an eight game losing streak was from July 13th 2014 to July 22nd 2014.

Brandon Finnegan (L, 0-3, 6.23) suffered the loss for the Bats. Finnegan pitched four and one-thirds innings. He gave up four hits, four earned runs, and three walks while striking out six.

Ryan Merritt (W, 2-0, 4.20) earned the win for Columbus. Merritt threw six innings and gave up four hits, two runs, and one walk while striking out three.

Louisville will play game two of two against the Columbus Clippers tomorrow night at Louisville Slugger Field. The game is schedules to start at 6:05 PM. The Bats will then finish the season with a pair of home contests against the Indianapolis Indians.
