Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the second game of a four-game set from PNC Field (6:35 p.m.). The Herd's victory last night snapped the team's three-game skid and pulled their road record up to an even 4-4. Buffalo's seven-game roadtrip includes a three-game set in Rochester beginning Friday.
Last Game
The Bisons used four doubles in the ninth inning to score three times and take a 9-6 win over the RailRiders. DH Jesus Montero drove in the winning run in the ninth with his second double of the contest. 3B Matt Dominguez had three hits and four RBI in the win. The Bisons seven extra-base hits and 15 hits for the game were season highs.
vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (1-0)
Buffalo's win last night broke a string of four straight victories in the rivalry by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Buffalo was 5-3 against the RailRiders at PNC Field last year and has not had a losing record in a given year in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since 2011 (3-5).
Scott Diamond
LHP Scott Diamond is 2-0 after his first two starts of the season. The southpaw has not walked any of the 43 batters he's faced this year and is coming off a seven-inning, one-run performance in the Bisons Home Opener on Thursday against Rochester. Diamond has given up just one extra-base hit this year with a .233 average against.
Jesus Montero
DH Jesus Montero recorded his second two-double game of the season last night. He is tied for the IL-lead with five doubles on the year and his 22 total bases rank 5th in the circuit. Montero has reached base safely in 10 of the team's 12 games, with a .362 on-base pct., a .512 slugging pct. and a .873 OPS.
Matt Dominguez
INF Matt Dominguez has six RBI in his last two games, pulling even with Montero for the team lead with nine runs driven in this year. All three of Dominguez's hits last night drove in runs. He drove in 56 last year in 117 games between Fresno and Colorado Springs of the PCL.
Andy Burns
INF Andy Burns has averaged .333 (10-30) with four doubles after an 0-15 start to the season. He leads the Bisons with four multi-hit performances on the season. Burns had 39 such performances last year.
Bisons Bits
1B Casey Kotchman has drawn a walk in seven of his last eight games played and has failed to reach base just once in 10 contests...INF Alexi Casilla has scored as a pinch runner in each of the Herd's last two games...Buffalo is 4-0 when outhitting their opponent this season.
