Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a three-game series at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo dropped the first game of the series by a score of 4-3 and are now tied with Rochester for second place in the IL-North. The Bisons will return home on Friday for a three-game homestand against the Chiefs.
Playoff Picture
With only 20 games remaining, the Bisons sit 5.5 games behind the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for first place in the IL-North. They are also 5.5 games behind the Columbus Clippers for the lone IL Wild Card spot. The Bisons will play Scranton/Wilkes-Barre five times in their last 20 games.
vs. the Red Wings
The Bisons are 7-8 against the Red Wings this season. Buffalo has had five consecutive winning seasons against Rochester and must win the final two games of this series to ensure that streak continues. The Bisons (18-13) sit just a half game up on the Red Wings for first place in the 2015 Thruway Cup.
Jeff Francis
LHP JEFF FRANCIS will make his 12th start of the seasons tonight. The lefty allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings last Thursday against Rochester. Francis gave up eight hits while walking one and striking out three. He took just his first loss of the season as Buffalo was shutout by the Red Wings, 3-0. Francis has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his starts this season.
Roster Moves
OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA had his contract selected by Toronto. The outfielder spent May-July with the Blue Jays and was only back with the Bisons for nine games this month (.167, 2 RBI). Carrera hit .279 with three homers and 21 games in 70 games with Toronto.
Bisons Bits
INF ANDY BURNS is fifth in the IL with a .298 batting average. He is batting .388 in August...LHP RANDY WOLF collected his 106th strikeout last night, tying him with RHP Jason Beverlin for the 13th most in a single season in the Bisons' modern era.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (65-54) were off yesterday as they prepped for an eight-game road trip. Toronto sits just 1.0 games back of the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Blue Jays first stop is tonight in Philly, where knuckle-baller R.A. Dickey will take the mound against Phillies Rookie Aaron Nola at Citizens Bank Park (7:05 p.m.).
