Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the first game of a three-game series at McCoy Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons have won five of their last six games, including taking three out of four from the Chiefs. Buffalo is three games out of first place in the IL North division as they play their 100th game tonight.
vs. the Red Sox
The Bisons are 4-2 against the Red Sox this year. The division rivals have not matched up since April 20-22 when Buffalo took two out of three from the Paw Sox in Pawtucket. The Bisons have not had a winning season against the Red Sox since 2008 when they went 10-6.
Matt Boyd
LHP MATT BOYD will make his sixth start of the season tonight. The lefty tossed 7.0 innings of three-run ball last Sunday against the RailRiders. Boyd gave up five hits while walking one and striking out six in a no-decision. Boyd has pitched at least 5.0 innings in each of his first five career Triple-A starts.
MattVP
INF MATT HAGUE picked up his 63rd RBI of the season on Thursday. The slugger is now just three behind Jesus Aguilar for tops in the IL. Hague has collected at least one RBI in 38 of the 97 games he has played in the season. The Bisons are 28-10 when the infielder drives in a run. Hague still leads the IL with his .348 average and 127 hits.
Dalton Pompey
OF DALTON POMPEY has hit in all seven games he has played in since returning to the Bisons on July 17. The outfielder is batting .370 with eight runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Pompey has also collected three extra-base hits and has been on base 16 times in his last seven games.
Roster Moves
INF TY KELLY has been activated by the Bisons. The Blue Jays claimed the switch-hitter Wednesday off waivers from St. Louis. Kelly hit .203 in 79 games with Triple-A Memphis. INF RYAN SCHIMPF has been transferred to New Hampshire and INF RAMON SANTIAGO was released. On Thursday, the Bisons placed RHP BOBBY KORECKY on the disabled list and activated LHP JEFF FRANCIS off the temporarily inactive list. Francis had been participating in the Pan-American games with Team Canada.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (49-48) defeated the Athletics yesterday by a score of 5-2. Russell Martin and Josh Donaldson both went deep for Toronto. Former Bison Bo Schultz picked up his first save of the year for the Blue Jay. Toronto will open up a three-game series in Seattle tonight. (10:10 p.m.)
