Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will begin a three-game set with the Syracuse Chiefs on Friday night. First pitch from Coca-Cola Park is slated for 7:05 p.m. The IronPigs sit in 4th place in the North Division at 44-55 after splitting a four-game set with Toledo, while Syracuse comes in at 39-61 after dropping three of four to Buffalo earlier this week.

RHP Severino Gonzalez (1-5, 4.84) gets the ball for the Pigs in the series opener. The right-hander was tagged with the loss on Sunday at Rochester after allowing six runs on seven hits while walking one and fanning one in 6.1 IP. All six runs came in the fifth and seventh innings as Gonzalez did not allow a hit in any other inning. He is looking for his first win in the IL since back on April 21 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

RHP Taylor Jordan (3-4, 2.71) will be on the bump for the Chiefs on Friday night. Jordan's last start was back on July 12 vs. Rochester when he earned the win after tossing six shutout innings while giving up five hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts. Over his last 4 GS in the IL, the Merritt Island, Fla. native is 2-1 with a 1.04 ERA. Jordan will be making his second start of the season against Lehigh Valley. On May 18 at Syracuse, the right-hander got a no-decision when he surrendered one run on six hits while fanning a pair over 9.0 IP.

The first 3,000 fans 18 and older will receive an Umbrella presented by the Morning Call. There will also be a Friday Night Fireworks display sponsored by TD Bank.
