
Sampson Throws Eight Frames for Bats' 1-0 Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Louisville Bats (49-52) started their three game series with the Indianapolis Indians (57-43) Friday at Victory Field with a win, 1-0.
Righty Keyvius Sampson (W 2-4, 5.08) was on the mound for the Bats and collected his second win of the season while throwing eight innings and four hitless frames. Sampson gave up five hits, zero runs, walked two, and struck out four. He threw 111 pitches resulting in 69 strikes.
Starting on the mound for the Indians was righty Radhames Liz (L 2-3, 1.17). He went seven innings, gave up two hits, one unearned run, walked four, and struck out seven.
Rightfielder Brennan Boesch singled in the first inning which resulted in a throwing error to score second baseman Irving Falu for the only Bats run.
Righty Collin Balester (S, 2) relieved Sampson after eight innings to close the game and earn his second save of the season.
Tomorrow the series continues at Victory Field at 7:05 pm. Projected to pitch for the Bats is righty Donn Roach (0-1, 12.46) and for the Indians righty Wilfredo Boscan (6-3, 3.82).
