Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the first game of a three-game series at Louisville Slugger Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won six straight, shaving four games off its deficit in the IL North division in less than a week (now 2.0 games back). Buffalo is 22-17 on the road, coming off a three-game sweep of the Indians at Victory Field.
Last Game (BUF 5, IND 3)
RHP Andy Burns doubled in the go-ahead run in the 8th inning of the Bisons' 5-3 win over Indy on Sunday. He was one of five Bisons with multi-hit performances, led by OF Darrell Ceciliani (3-4, RBI). RHP Danny Barnes came into the game with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th and preserved the lead for his first career Triple-A save.
vs. Louisville (3-1)
The Bisons won the final three games of their four-game set against the Bats at Coca-Cola Field last week. The Herd hit .297 as a team in the series win. Just one victory this week would give Buffalo their third season-series victory over the Bats in the last four years.
Chris Leroux
RHP Chris Leroux is 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA in his last eight starts. His most recent victory was last Wednesday when he allowed an unearned run over six innings to defeat the Bats in Buffalo. Leroux has 21 strikeouts in 16.1 innings of work in his last three starts.
MLB Rehabs
LHP Brett Cecil (tricep strain) and LHP Franklin Morales (shoulder fatigue) are on MLB injury rehab assignments with the Bisons. Cecil allowed a hit in an inning of work on Saturday against Indy, while Morales needed just nine pitches for a 1-2-3 frame on Sunday (1K).
Red Hot June
At 16-9, the Bisons have clinched their first winning June since 2008 (15-14). The Herd hasn't won 17 in the month since 2004 when the eventual IL Champs went 20-8 to kick-start their playoff push. Buffalo has hit .271 this June, 28 points better than their April-May average.
David Adams
INF David Adams brings a seven-game hit streak into today's game. Since June 18, the infielder has averaged .320 (8-25) with a double, two home runs, six RBI and four walks.
Bisons Bits
The Bisons turned nine doubleplays in their series sweep in Indianapolis...The Bisons are an IL-best 28-6 (.824) when scoring first...Sunday, RHP Danny Barnes became the eighth different Bisons pitcher with a save this season. The Bisons' 29 saves are five more than any other International League team.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (41-36) lost to the White Sox, 5-2, on Sunday. Former Bisons' OF Junior Lake hit his first home run with the club while SS Troy Tulowitzki also went deep. After the game, Toronto recalled Bisons' RHP Ryan Tepera and optioned LHP Chad Girodo back to the Herd. Tonight, the Blue Jays are in Colorado for an 8:40 first pitch against the Rockies.
