June 27, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Bisons won their seventh straight ballgame on Monday, as Buffalo beat the Louisville Bats 3-1. The Herd improves to 44-34, as they look to reclaim the lead in the IL North.

In the first game of a three-game series from Louisville Slugger Field, Chris Leroux pitched 6.2 innings of one-run ball, winning his sixth game of the year. He lowers his ERA to 3.15.

A pair of home runs against Bats' starter Homer Bailey gave the Bisons a 2-0 lead in the first inning. A one-out solo shot by Andy Burns put the Herd up 1-0, and Jesus Montero powered a 418-foot blast over the 20-foot high right-centerfield wall.

Bailey, originally scheduled to go two innings in his rehab start, was removed after one inning, and replaced by Amir Garrett. Garrett stranded runners on first and second in the second inning, getting Burns to pop up to end the frame.

Melky Mesa doubled in the fourth for Buffalo, but Jio Mier flew out to left, keeping the game 2-0. The Herd stranded a leadoff double by Darrell Ceciliani in the fifth.

The Bats threatened for the first time in the fourth, putting runners on first and second with two away. Jermaine Curtis shot a ball to Burns at second base, who leaped, knocked the ball down, and recovered to throw out Curtis at first.

A double-play in the bottom of the seventh brought up Raffy Lopez with a runner on third. The Louisville catcher flared a single into centerfield, off the glove of a diving Ceciliani, cutting the Herd's lead to 2-1. Seth Mejias-Brean knocked Leroux out of the game a batter later, singling into right field.

Pat Venditte relieved Leroux in the seventh, and stranded runners on the corners, as Juan Perez popped up to second.

Amir Garrett delivered yeoman's work out of the bullpen for the Bats, pitching seven innings in relief, allowing no earned runs, as the Herd mustered just two hits against the lefty.

Buffalo increased their lead to 3-1 in the top of the ninth, as Darrell Ceciliani picked up an RBI groundout with the bases loaded against Drew Hayes.

Dustin Antolin earned his eighth save of 2016 with a perfect ninth inning.

Game two of the Herd's three-game series in Louisville is set for 7:05 Tuesday night. Taking the ball for Buffalo will be Drew Hutchison, who looks for his fourth straight win. Daniel Wright is scheduled to start for the Bats.
