Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs were blanked by the visiting Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Monday night, 5-0. Zach Collier picked up his first career Triple-A hit in the loss.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (46-32) tallied first, plating a run in the second inning off of Syracuse starter Taylor Hill. The frame began with a single from Jake Cave. Donovan Solano, the brother of Chiefs' catcher Jhonatan Solano, then ripped a double to the left-center alley. The hit drove in Cave from first for a 1-0 lead.

Syracuse (36-40) allowed three runs in the fourth inning. Tyler Austin started the rally with a single. Hill then walked Cave to put runners aboard first and second with no outs. Solano was next up and ripped another double, this time to the right-center gap, to drive in Austin for a 2-0 lead. Following a Pete Kozma groundout, Jonathan Diaz hit a fly ball to deep right field. Collier made the catch, but the sacrifice fly plated Cave to give Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 3-0 advantage. Solano tagged up and moved to third on the play. Next up was Ben Gamel, who increased the RailRider lead to 4-0 by driving in Solano with a single. The hit ended Hill's night on the mound.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre tallied again in the fifth off of Syracuse reliever Aaron Laffey. Aaron Judge led off the inning with a home run to left field. The solo shot gave the RailRiders a 5-0 lead. Laffey settled in after the homer. He allowed just the one run in three and one-third innings of work.

Chad Green was excellent on the mound for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The starter threw six innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six and walking only one in the win. For Syracuse, two players made their Triple-A debut after being promoted from Double-A Harrisburg earlier in the day. Collier played in right field and went 1-for-3 with a single, while Christopher Bostick manned second base and finished 0-for-4 at the plate. Right-handed pitcher Reynaldo Lopez was also promoted but did not make an appearance in the game. Lopez is scheduled to start Thursday at Rochester.

Trea Turner made his first career appearance in the outfield in the game. Turner manned center field smoothly, catching a pair of fly balls, including one to open the game.

The Chiefs and RailRiders are back Tuesday for game two of this three-game set. Austin Voth is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite Kyle Haynes for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. First pitch from NBT Bank Stadium is at 6:35.
