
Peter Promoted to Charlotte, Parrino & Marin Placed on DL

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Infielder Jake Peter, a 2016 Southern League All-Star, was promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from the Double-A Birmingham Barons. Peter will take the roster spot of infielder Andy Parrino, who was placed on Charlotte's disabled list (retroactive to June 26). In one other roster move today, RHP Terance Marin was placed on Charlotte's disabled list as of today. Charlotte's roster is set at 24 active players.
Originally selected by the Chicago White Sox in the seventh round of the 2014 draft out of Creighton University, Peter hit .304 (77-for-253) with 27 runs scored, 14 doubles, four home runs, and 29 RBIs with the Double-A Birmingham Barons this season in 68 games. The Mason City, Iowa native hit .260 (129-for-497) with 76 runs scored, 25 doubles, five triples, three home runs, and 57 RBIs last season with High-A Winston-Salem. Peter also swiped a season-high 23 stolen bases last season. He was a 2015 Carolina League Post-Season All-Star.
Parrino is hitting .213 (37-for-174) with eight runs scored, six doubles, one triple, one home run and 19 RBIs with the Knights this season in 52 games. A native of Brockport, NY, Parrino was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on December 4, 2015.
Marin, 26, has compiled a 4-5 record with a 6.21 ERA in 16 games (eight starts) this season with the Knights (58.0 IP). The Modesto, CA native has not allowed a run over his last three appearances (11.0 IP). Marin appeared in 19 games (10 starts) with the Knights last season and posted a 3-4 record with a 2.93 ERA (76.2 IP).
The Knights will open a three-game series against the Durham Bulls from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte, NC tonight. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. game.
