Buffalo Bisons News Release
ALLENTOWN, PA - After winning the first three games of the series, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 5-4 on Friday night in what was a back-and-forth affair from Coca-Cola Park.
The Herd struck first when Chavez Young hit a two-run homer in the second for his first long ball of the season, but managed just one hit across the next three innings.
Thomas Hatch got the start for Buffalo and was effective through four, but after allowing three straight singles to load the bases, the rehabbing Johan Camargo cleared them with a booming double to give the Pigs a 3-2 lead.
Still, the Bisons would get a quality start out of Hatch, who ultimately went six innings allowing three runs while striking out six, though he did give up nine hits on the night.
His opponent, Michael Plassmeyer, was also quite successful for the Pigs, as the lefty went 5.2 innings while allowing two runs off four hits while punching out seven.
The Herd would regain the lead in the seventh when they loaded the bases with one away thanks to three walks issued by Lehigh Valley. With two outs and Nathan Lukes at the dish, the Bisons leadoff hitter delivered with a big two-run single to make it 4-3 Buffalo.
The Pigs would once again take a one-run lead in the eighth, when Jorge Bonifacio drove in a pair of runs with a double off Kyle Johnston, though both runs were charged to Brandon Eisert, to go back on top 5-4. The Herd went down in order in the ninth as Mark Appel picked up the save for the Pigs.
The Bisons and IronPigs will continue their series tomorrow evening, with first pitch scheduled slightly earlier than usual at 6:35 p.m. EST. The starting pitchers have yet to be announced.
