Charlotte Knights News Release
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Despite a strong late-inning effort, the Charlotte Knights dropped game four of the six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a score of 4-3 on Friday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.
The Knights combined to record a total of five hits on the night. Second baseman Laz Rivera tied the game up at 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run, his fifth of the season.
With the game tied at 3-3, the Jumbo Shrimp took the lead and ultimately the game in the top of the ninth inning thanks to a solo home run off the bat of Jacksonville shortstop Demetrius Sims. His solo home run off Charlotte RHP Parker Markel (0-1, 3.00) proved to be the difference. It was his second home run of the season. Markel was saddled with the loss.
Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson went 1-for-4 in his fourth game on a major league rehab assignment on Friday night. Anderson, who is currently on Chicago's 10-day injured list with a strained right groin, now has five hits in his four games on the assignment. His RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning gave the Knights a 2-1 lead.
RHP J.B. Olson started the game, his third start over his team's last five games. He allowed just one hit and one walk over one scoreless inning.
The Knights will continue the six-game-series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) from Truist Field on Saturday night. First pitch of Saturday's game from Uptown Charlotte is set for 7:04 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
