
Stripers Strike Early and Often in 10-5 Win vs. Indianapolis

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers (32-31) scored in each of the first four innings on the way to a 10-5 win over the Indianapolis Indians (30-31) on Thursday night at Coolray Field. Delino DeShields Jr. and Preston Tucker each blasted home runs in a four-run second inning.
Decisive Plays: With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the second, DeShields launched a two-run homer (1) to left field off Osvaldo Bido (L, 1-4). Later in the inning, Tucker added a two-run homer (5) of his own off Bido to make it 5-1. The Stripers continued to pour it on, adding a run in the third, three more in the fourth, and one in the sixth.
Key Contributors: DeShields Jr. finished the night 1-for-1 with the home run, two walks, three RBIs, and a stolen base. Tucker went 2-for-5 with the home run, two runs, and two RBIs. Pat Valaika (2-for-4, double, 3 runs), Alex Dickerson (2-for-5, 2 doubles, run, RBI) and Kramer Robertson (2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 steals) each had multi-hit efforts. Bryce Elder (W, 3-3) earned the win after tossing 5.0-plus innings, and the bullpen combined on 4.0 two-hit innings.
Noteworthy: DeShields' two-run blast was his 50th career minor league homer. Gwinnett has now won nine straight home games over Indianapolis dating back to April 23, 2019 and eight straight games overall against the Indians since June 1, 2019.
