
Bulls Blank Bats, Take 3-1 Series Lead

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls (34-30) shut out the Louisville Bats (23-40) 5-0 on Friday night to stretch their series lead to 3-1 in their six-game set at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
After a scoreless two innings, Durham used a three-run third frame to separate from Louisville. CF Cal Stevenson got things started on a two-run single for the 2-0 lead before 1B Luke Raley tattooed an RBI single two batters later to stretch the lead to three. C Joe Hudson then went yard In the eighth with a two-run shot, adding insurance runs for the 5-0 lead.
The pitching staff of Seth Blair, Joel Peguero, Ben Bowden, Chris Muller, Dusten Knight and Javy Guerra combined for the Durham's fifth shutout win of the season, allowing three hits and ringing up nine strikeouts. Peguero picked up the win after two innings of work, allowing no hits and ringing up three strikeouts. Bats starter Ben Lively picked up the loss.
The Bulls and Bats will be back in action at the DBAP on Saturday for game five of the series, with first pitch is slated for 6:35 pm. RHP Ryan Yarbrough (0-1, 6.75) is expected to start for Durham and RHP Randy Wynne (1-7, 4.57) is scheduled to start for Louisville.
