COLUMBUS, OH - The Buffalo Bisons and Columbus Clippers made up Thursday night's rainout by splitting a doubleheader on Saturday night from Huntington Park, where the Bisons took game one 4-2 before dropping the night cap 4-3.

Game one saw Thomas Hatch go 5.2 innings where he allowed two runs and struck out seven without issuing a walk. Over his last three starts, Hatch has a 2.16 ERA over 16.2 innings and has walked just four batters compared to 18 punchouts.

The Bisons scored a pair of runs in the fourth off a two-run single by Otto López, followed by another pair in the fifth after Clippers reliever Justin Garza walked in two runs. Garza was one of four relievers to follow starter Kirk McCarthy, who, while not fully stretched out, lasted 3.1 innings and gave up two runs while striking out four.

The two runs the Clippers scored in their half of the fifth were done without hitting a ball past the infield; a balk by Hatch followed by a groundout to the right side scored the first, and an error by López at second scored the other.

Matt Gage picked up the four-out save after coming into the game in the sixth, where he picked up his team-leading seventh save of the season and lowered his ERA to 0.59.

Game two saw a bullpen day for the Herd which began with two no-hit innings from Jeremey Beasley, followed a shutout frame by newcomer Eric Yardley in what was his Bisons debut. Yardley signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on May 24 and has pitched in parts of three MLB seasons with the Padres and Brewers.

The Clippers took their first lead of the series in the fourth when David Fry singled home Will Brennan, before Gavin Collins and Tyler Freeman hit solo home runs in the fifth to make it 3-0. The Herd would tie it in the sixth after RBI singles by Samad Taylor and Mallex Smith, chasing starter Tanner Tully who went 5.2 innings and gave up all three runs.

Despite the late-game rally, the Clippers would ultimately walk-off the Bisons in the seventh off a game-winning RBI single by Bobby Bradley to snap the Herd's seven-game win streak.

The Bisons and Clippers will conclude their six-game set tomorrow afternoon, with Casey Lawrence on the hill for the Herd against righthander Peyton Battenfield. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. EST.
