Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, PA) - Pitching was the name of the game through nine innings on Saturday evening after a one hour and one minute rain delay. The Worcester Red Sox (22-25) defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (25-22) 2-0 in 10 innings.
Ricardo Sanchez pitched five shutout innings for Lehigh Valley. He gave up just three hits while issuing two walks and struck out five batters. Nick Duron, Jonathan Hennigan, and Michael Kelly each followed up with a scoreless inning of relief.
Francisco Morales (1-1) took the loss as he gave up two runs in the top of the 10th inning. Connor Wong hit an RBI single that scored Roberto Ramos. Yolmer Sanchez then scored on an RBI ground out by Ryan Fitzgerald.
Zack Kelly (2-1) earned the win for Worcester as he pitched two scoreless innings of relief. Kaleb Ort earned his sixth save of the season by pitching a scoreless bottom of the 10th inning.
Austin Wynns finished the evening 2-for-4 and has now extended his on-base streak to 22 games. Darick Hall and Dalton Guthrie each had their five-game hitting streaks snapped as they both went 0-for-4.
The IronPigs and WooSox return to action on Sunday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
