RENO, Nev.- The Iowa Cubs used a six-run seventh inning to break open a tie game, handing the first-place Reno Aces a 9-6 defeat Monday night at Aces Ballpark.

After Iowa jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, the Aces would chip away, scoring single runs in the first, second and fourth innings. Sacrifice flies by Andy Tracy and Evan Frey in the first two frames cut the lead to 3-2 before Frey tied the game at three with an RBI single in the fourth.

But the I-Cubs broke the tie in the seventh, putting up six runs against three Aces pitchers. Reno scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and threatened in the eighth, but left runners on second and third and could not complete the comeback.

I-Cubs starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx (3-1) earned the victory, scattering 10 hits over six frames but allowing just two earned runs.
