Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- Sean Burroughs had five hits-including a triple and three doubles-to lead the first-place Reno Aces past Iowa, 11-5, Tuesday afternoon at Aces Ballpark.
Burroughs narrowly missed a cycle, as his opposite field double in the sixth hit off the top of the left field wall. Burroughs' big day also included four RBIs and two runs scored, and he raised his average to .386 on the afternoon.
The Aces scored nine times in the third and fourth innings, staking starter Barry Enright (1-1) to a 9-3 lead after the fourth frame.
Enright earned his first-career Triple-A win Tuesday, despite being tagged for five runs in six innings of work. Tom Layne and Kam Mickolio kept Iowa off the scoreboard over the final three innings, helping Reno salvage a four-game series split with the I-Cubs.
Jay Jackson (1-3) started and suffered the loss for Iowa, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in three-plus innings.
In addition to Burroughs' big day at the plate, Collin Cowgill went three-for-five with two runs scored for Reno. Brandon Allen and Tony Abreu homered for the Aces, who pounded out eight extra-base hits.
The Aces will enjoy an off day on Wednesday before hitting the road for an eight-game trip to Albuquerque and Round Rock. In Thursday's series opener at Albuquerque, the Aces will send LHP Zach Kroenke (4-0, 6.21 ERA) to the mound against Isotopes LHP Dana Eveland (4-3, 3.28 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT from Isotopes Park, and all the action can be heard locally on Fox Sports Radio 630 AM and online at RenoAces.com.
Reno returns home on Friday, May 27, for a four-game series against the Sacramento River Cats. Tickets can be purchased at the Aces Ballpark Box Office, online at www.RenoAces.com or by phone at (775) 334-7000.
