
Bergeron selected to play in All-Star Classic

The Providence Bruins announced today that center Patrice Bergeron has been selected to play for the Canadian Team at the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. The 19-year-old native of Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec ranks third on the team with 13-22-35 totals in 33 games. He spent all of last season with the Boston Bruins, posting 16-23-39 totals in 71 games, as the NHL's youngest player.
Bergeron left the P-Bruins on December 13 to report to the Canadian National Junior Team for the World Junior Championships, and led Canada to its first Gold Medal since 1997. Bergeron led the tournament in scoring with 5-8-13 totals in six games, and was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. He has 3-5-8 totals in eight games since returning to the Bruins.
The AHL will announce the roster for the PlanetUSA team on Thursday afternoon. The 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic will be held at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 13-14. The Skills Competition will be held on February 13, while the All-Star Game will be on the 14th.
The Bruins begin a stretch of four games in five nights on tonight at 7:05 p.m., when they visit the Binghamton Senators. Game action can be heard live on WDDZ AM-550 and online at www.providencebruins.com. The Bruins return home to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, January 28 at 7:05 p.m., and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday, January 30 at 4:05 p.m.
Friday's game will be Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night. All fans in attendance will receive a free Providence Bruins mug, courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts. Friday's game will also be televised live on COX Sports Television, with Corey Masse and Boston Bruins legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Gerry Cheevers calling the action.
Following Sunday's game, Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen and defenseman Milan Jurcina will sign autographs free of charge on the Dunkin' Donuts Center concourse behind Section 110.
