BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast announced Thursday its first-ever ECHL roster for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. The final list of 20 players includes 11 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies.

Eight players will be returning from last season, in addition to twelve newcomers.

This will be the Beast's first season in the ECHL as one of seven new franchises, following the acquisition of all seven CHL teams by the ECHL last week.

"Camp was good, I thought the tempo picked up as each day went on," said Beast Head Coach Brent Hughes. "I've got some really good depth, I think every line brings a little bit of something. I've got good puck moving defensemen who can skate, my goaltending is solid, I'm excited for [October] 24th to see these guys in a game."

Two players fought hard during camp to earn spots on the opening night roster despite not being signed by the team during the preseason.

Tyson Fawcett joins the Beast after spending his past two years with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, where he scored 75 points in 130 games and was an alternate captain last season. The feisty, 5'6" centreman was dubbed a "spark plug" by his former OHL coach Dale Hawerchuk, and will be transitioning his skills into his first season of professional hockey.

Tyler MacPherson attended the Beast Free Agent camp this summer, where he impressed the coaching staff with his work ethic and on-ice skill and was offered a tryout with the team during training camp. A hometown product of Brampton, Ontario, MacPherson was a part of the Canadian team that won the Gold medal at the U20 World Ball Hockey Championships in Czech Republic in 2012. He spent his last three seasons with the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Junior Hockey League and will be also making his professional debut this year with the Beast.
