Former Everblades Forward Brody Sutter Makes NHL Debut with Carolina

ESTERO, FL - Former Everblades forward Brody Sutter (pictured left) made his National Hockey League debut with the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday night in a 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Sutter becomes the 50th Everblades player to have played in the NHL, and is the 29th Everblade to be listed as an "ECHL Graduate" (Played in ECHL before reaching NHL).

Sutter, 23, went scoreless with a -1 rating in his NHL debut Thursday. The 6-5, 203-pound forward totaled 28 points (8g, 20a) in 69 games played with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) last season. During the 2012-13 season, Sutter registered 16 points (8g, 8a) in 37 appearances with the Everblades.

The Calgary, Alberta native was seventh round draft selection of the Hurricanes in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Lethbridge Hurricanes totaling 123 points, which includes a balanced 60-point season (30g, 30a) in 2011-12.

Sutter is the son of former New York Islanders star Duane Sutter who won four Stanley Cups as a player. His uncle Darryl Sutter is the current head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, winning Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and 2014.
