Bears hold AHL's best point total after two weeks

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club posted a 5-4 victory Friday over Philadelphia and a 7-1 win over Syracuse Saturday before falling to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5-4 on Sunday. With 10 points in six games, the BEARS have the AHL's best point total heading into the third week of the season.

HERSHEY hosts the Binghamton Senators Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and the Rochester Americans Sunday at 5:00 p.m. this week. Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.

Sloan recalled to Washington: The Washington Capitals announced Monday morning that defenseman Tyler Sloan has been recalled to the NHL club. Sloan, a Calgary, AB native, is eligible to make his NHL debut Tuesday when the Caps play the Calgary Flames at Pengrowth Saddledome. At the time of his recall, Sloan was third in the AHL in plus/minus.

Leaders of the Pack: The AHL scoring race has quite the Chocolate flavor to it after two weeks. Center Keith Aucoin leads the AHL in points with 14 on four goals and 10 assists. Graham Mink and Alexandre Giroux are tied for the AHL goal scoring lead with six each. Second-year pro Andrew Gordon and left wing Chris Bourque have four goals each. HERSHEY leads the AHL with 33 goals scored in six games.

Washington update-The Capitals begin the week tied with Carolina for first place in the Southeast Division standings. Bruce Boudreau's team embarks on a three-game road trip Tuesday with a game in Calgary against the Flames. Washington will then travel to Phoenix and Dallas before returning to Verizon Center next Tuesday against the Nashville Predators.
