
Montreal Recalls Kyle Chipchura From Hamilton

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that forward Kyle Chipchura has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Chipchura will join the Canadiens today and will be available for tonight's game against the Florida Panthers.
Chipchura, 22, played in two games with Hamilton this past weekend, recording an assist in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Norfolk Admirals. In 2007-2008, the native of Westlock, Alberta split the season between Hamilton and Montreal recording 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 36 games during his rookie season with the Canadiens. In 39 games with the 'Dogs, Chipchura posted 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists).
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound centre has played in a total of 129 regular season games for the Bulldogs registering 64 points (23 goals, 41 assists). Montreal's 1st round, 18th overall, selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft also won the Calder Cup with Hamilton in 2007, ranking third on the team in scoring with 13 points (six goals, seven assists) after playing in all 22 post-season games. Chipchura is also a former recipient of the Flamboro Downs Workhorse of the Year award (formerly the Pearson-Dunn Player of the Year award), winning the trophy for the 2006-2007 season.
The Bulldogs take their four-game winning streak on the road to battle their North Division archrivals the Toronto Marlies for a 7:00 p.m. match-up on Wednesday, October 22nd at Ricoh Coliseum. The 'Dogs continue on the road when they travel to Grand Rapids for an encounter with the Griffins on Saturday, October 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Van Andel Arena. The club returns to Copps Coliseum on Sunday, October 26th for a 4:00 p.m. tilt against the Quad City Flames.
