Last Week's Games

Friday, October 17th - Chicago Wolves 1 at Quad City Flames 0

A goaltending duel at the i wireless Center on Friday ended with the Wolves' Ondrej Pavelec on top in a 1-0 win. The lone shot to beat Flames netminder Matt Keetley was tipped home by Grant Stevenson, a former Flame playing his first game as a visitor in the Quad Cities. The early stages of a scoreless first period belonged to the Flames as the home squad attacked the Chicago zone. Dan Ryder was tied up on a chance at the goalmouth as the Wolves were able to keep zeroes on the board. Later in the period, Matt Keetley made a stellar save on a Joey Crabb chance from point-blank range. The Wolves began the second period with hop as Chicago's Grant Stevenson scored just 67 seconds into the middle frame to give his squad a 1-0 lead. Stevenson tipped home a point shot by Grant Lewis to record his first goal of the season in his first game vs. his former squad. The solo tally held up as the only goal of the middle period. Matt Keetley turned aside 12 shots in the frame. A late Flames rally generated a power-play chance but no goals. Despite a strong closing push, the Flames couldn't dent the twine late in the third. With just two minutes remaining, Flames winger Kris Chucko and Chicago's Boris Valabik got into a scrum. Chucko was penalized for roughing while Valabik escaped without penalty. The Chicago power play effectively killed the hopes of a Flames comeback as the Wolves remained perfect at the i wireless Center improving to 5-0-0-0.

Saturday, October 18th - Iowa Chops 4 at Quad City Flames 1

A rough start doomed the Flames on Saturday night in Des Moines. The Chops earned a 4-1 victory after jumping to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Andrew Ebbett and Joakim Lindstrom. Kris Chucko scored the lone Flames goal as the team fell to 1-3-1-0 on the season. The Chops grabbed a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Andrew Ebbett and Joakim Lindstrom. Ebbett snuck past the Flames defense and scored on a breakaway just 66 seconds into the game. Lindstrom followed with a goal in transition at 10:32 of the first period. Lindstrom was later ejected from the game after boarding Ryan Wilson late in the opening period. In the middle frame, the Flames pulled to within one goal when Kris Chucko swatted in a Dan Ryder passing during a Quad City power play. The tally was Chucko's team leading third goal of the campaign. The Chops re-assumed their two goals advantage four minutes later when Petteri Wirtanen burst into the Quad City zone and sent a shot towards Leland Irving. The rookie netminder stopped the initial chance but Iowa's Troy Bodie converted on the rebound to give the Chops a 3-1 lead. Iowa held onto their two-goal lead through the second half of the period. The lone third period goal was scored with 3:18 remaining as Troy Bodie beat Leland Irving for his first goal of the season.
