
Amerks Set For Three Games In Three Nights This Weekend

(Rochester, NY)... After coming off their winless two-game sweep in Manitoba this past weekend, the Rochester Americans now turn their attention to another busy weekend as the team prepares for three games in as many nights. The three-game stretch features only one divisional matchup for the Amerks.
Rochester's three-game weekend kicks off on Friday, October 24th as the Quad City Flames make their only trip of the season to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The game will be the first of two scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The Amerks will look for their first ever win against the Flames after falling in the only two meetings between the two teams last season. Quad City (1-3-1-0) is currently ranked seventh in the West Division.
The game is part of scout night. All Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with their families and friends can purchase discounted tickets to see the Amerks take on the Flames. Tickets can be purchased at $10.00 - $12.00 depending on seating arrangements. There will also be a parade on the ice for all scouts during the first intermission. In addition to Scout Night, its AAA discount night. All AAA members can bring their membership cards to The Blue Cross Arena Box Office to receive 100-End Seating for $12.00 each (Reg. Price $18.25) or 200-End Seating for $9.00 each (Reg. Price $14.25).
Rochester's weekend continues the following night as the Amerks travel down the I-90 Interstate for a 7:30 p.m. North Division clash with the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The game will the third of 12 meetings between the New York State rivals and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The Amerks are 0-2-0-0 this season and 78-69-15 lifetime against the Columbus Blue Jackets' affiliate. Syracuse (3-1-0-0) is presently ranked second in the North Division.
The oldest rivalry in the American Hockey League will be renewed on Sunday, October 26th as Rochester travels to the Giant Center to take on the Hershey Bears in a battle of the league's oldest franchises. The 5:00 p.m. contest is the first of two meetings between the two teams and will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. Rochester was 1-1-0-0 in the season series a year ago and 180-199-53 all-time against the Bears. Hershey (5-1-0-0) is currently the top team in the East Division.
Rochester (0-5-0-0) enters the week in search of its first win of the 2008-09 season after dropping back-to-back contests as part of a two-game set with the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre. The pair of losses extends the Amerks' current losing streak to five games.
The Amerks' first loss came Friday night in a 3-1 decision to be followed with a 4-1 setback Saturday night. David Brine netted Rochester's lone goal Friday night to earn second star honors and second-year forward Tanner Glass was the only Amerk to find the back of the net in Saturday's loss.
Rookie defenseman Jason Garrison leads the Amerks with three points (1+2) through the first five games of the season. Averaging just .60 points per game, his three points currently ranks him 18th among league blueliners and 20th among league rookies.
