Bats Win Big Over Jumbo Shrimp, 13-1

LOUISVILLE, KY - Alejo Lopez and Christain Encarnacion-Strand each produced three-hit games as the Louisville Bats (20-21) cruised to a 13-1 victory of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (19-22) at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats have now won four straight.

The Bats got on the board early, scratching across one run in the bottom of the first inning thanks to Jason Vosler's sacrifice fly that scored Elly De La Cruz for a 1-0 lead.

Louisville showed off their offensive power in the home half of the third inning, recording three extra base hits. Alejo Lopez led off the inning with a fly ball over the right field wall for his second home run of the season. Will Benson followed with a triple and was brought home by an Ecarnacion-Strand single. A double from Matt Reynolds scored Ecarnacion-Strand as the Bats score three runs to make the lead 4-0.

De La Cruz tallied a two-run RBI double and scored on Ecarnacion-Strand's first double of the night.

The fifth inning saw five runs from the Bats, highlighted by Jason Vosler's three run homer. Vosler has now homered in back-to-back games.

Louisville scored their final run of the game in the sixth thanks to a double from Lopez.

Jacksonville broke up the shutout in the following inning following a wlid pitch after back-to-back doubles.

Louisville and Jacksonville will play game four of the six-game series tomorrow, Friday May 19th, with first pitch set for 7:15pm ET. Left-hander Andrew Abbott (1-0, 4.50) will take the mound for the Bats facing off against Jacksonville right hander Chi Chi Gonzalez (2-2, 4.54).
