Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY- The Louisville Bats (52-76) lost in a rain-shortened contest to the Indianapolis Indians (66-60) on Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Tonight's game was delayed and ultimately called as an official outcome after seven complete innings due to rain.

Indianapolis jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, tagging Louisville starter Justin Nicolino (3-5, 5.53) for two runs in his first outing since returning from a brief stint on the 7-day injured list.

Following a pair of singles, Indianapolis third baseman Kevin Padlo tallied the third single in the inning, driving in Hoy Park to plate the game's first run. Right fielder Brendt Citta followed suit, bringing home Ji-hwan Bae with an RBI knock of his own to give Indy an early 2-0 lead.

The Indians tacked on another in the second inning when Hoy Park grounded a ball through the hole and into right field to bring home designated hitter Carter Bins to increase the lead to 3-0. They would add one more insurance run in the top of the fourth thanks to a Hoy Park solo homer.

Indianapolis starter Osvaldo Bido (3-7, 4.48) was dialed in from his first pitch, retiring the first 11 batters he faced and carrying a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Louisville backstop Mark Kolozsvary broke it up with a double into right field. Bido finished his outing tossing six innings, allowing just the one hit while striking out seven and walking one.

Louisville got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning when TJ Hopkins struck for his second home run of the season, a solo shot. The game would enter a weather delay following the end of the inning, and would ultimately be announced as an official result with a final score of 4-1.

The series and season finale between Louisville and Indianapolis will take place tomorrow evening at Louisville Slugger Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Ben Lively (2-5, 4.31) will get the ball for the Bats while fellow righty Jerad Eickhoff (5-5, 4.62) will be on the bump for Indy.
