Bats Bounce Back against Indians with 9-5 Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Louisville Bats (61-70) bounced back from Monday's 13-inning loss against the Indianapolis Indians (77-54) with a victory Tuesday, 9-5, at Victory Field.

The Bats and Indians had an even second inning to tie the game, 1-1. A four-run inning in the third broke the tie in the Bats favor. Chris Berset doubled in two and Kristopher Negron singled in two. Juan Perez continued in the fourth with a solo homer, his first Louisville Bats homerun to make the score, 6-1.

Lefty Brandon Finnegan started on the mound for the Bats. He went four innings, gave up four hits, allowed one run, walked two, and struck out five. Righty Jose De La Torre (W, 6-4, 3.08) replaced Finnegan to start the fifth and took the win. He went two and two thirds, walked one, and struck out one.

On the mound for the Indians was righty Brad Lincoln (L, 6-2, 3.95). He went four innings, gave up six hits, allowed six runs, five earned, walked three, struck out six, and gave up one homer.

In the fifth, Juan Silva added to the score after a throwing error by Indy's second baseman Steve Lombardozzi Jr. Chris Dominguez then scored from a ground out and Chris Berset followed to score by another throwing error by Lombardozzi Jr. Heading into the home half, Josh Bell singled to score Keon Broxton and Travis Snider scored from a ground out making the score, 9-3.

The Indians tacked on two more runs in the sixth. Gustavo Nunez started the inning with a double and later scored when Gorkys Hernandez doubled. Keon Broxton had an RBI single to give the Indians their last run.

Tomorrow the Bats and Indians continue at Victory Field at 1:35 pm. Projected on the mound for the Bats is righty Michael Lorenzen (3-2, 2.31) and for the Indians righty Vance Worley (2-0, 1.50).
