Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

DAVENPORT, Iowa - After Pat Porter was hit by a pitch to load the bases in the bottom of the eighth, Christian Correa worked a walk and drove in Kyle Tucker to help the Quad Cities River Bandits defeat the Beloit Snappers 2-1 on Tuesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. For the third consecutive game, the River bandits starting pitcher did not allow a run; this time with Jose Hernandez tossing five scoreless innings. The win moves the Bandits back above .500 for the second half, the second time they've been above even water this season.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth, Tucker reached on an infield single and Connor Goedert followed with a single. Porter took a pitch from Tyler Willman off the knee to load the bases and Correa worked the walk to score Tucker and give Quad Cities (7-6, 38-44) the 2-1 advantage. This came as an immediate response to Skye Bolt tying the game in the Beloit (6-7, 38-44) eighth.

The Bandits knocked a run in the fourth to break a scoreless tie. Osvaldo Duarte led off the frame with a double and moved to third on an infield single from Kyle Tucker. Pat Porter came through with a single to score Duarte and Put Quad Cities on top 1-0.

After three scoreless innings, the Snappers tied the contest in the eighth. Trent Gilbert singled to start off the eighth and moved to third on two wild pitches by reliever David Schmidt. Ralph Garza came in from the bullpen and gave up a sacrifice fly to Bolt, scoring Gilbert and tying the game at 1-1.

Both starters took no decision in their efforts. Hernandez tossed five scoreless innings while scattering six hits and striking out three for the Bandits. Beloit's Dustin Hurlbutt gave up one run over six innings on six hits, but struck out six batters.

Garza (3-3)earned the win in his relief appearance for Quad Cities. Garza allowed one hit in two scoreless innings. Rob Huber (1-3) dropped the decision in a 2.1 inning effort, giving up one run on one hit. He left with the game tied and one runner on with two outs in the eighth, but the rally continued after his departure to cost him the decision.

RHP Yoanys Quiala (1-5, 4.35) toes the rubber for Quad Cities on Wednesday night. The Snappers send RHP Angel Duno (5-3, 2.28) to the mound in the 7:00 p.m. first pitch. You can catch the broadcast with Jake Levy and Lance Ragland, starting with the LLOYD Agencies Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m. on 1170 AM K-BOB, riverbandits.com and the TuneIn app.
