Bees One Hit by LumberKings

(Burlington-IA) - The Burlington Bees (37-46) were held to just one hit in a 1-0 loss to the Clinton LumberKings (50-33) on Tuesday night at Ashford University Field in Clinton.

The only hit of the game for the Bees came in the top of the second inning. Jared Foster started the frame by ripping a double down the left field line. Clinton's starter Pablo Lopez went on to strikeout the next three hitters to get out of the inning unscathed.

Jose Rodriguez worked five shutout innings for the Bees. Rodriguez scattered just three hits while striking out six, one shy of his season high seven. Pablo Lopez threw seven shutout innings for the LumberKings.

A night after Logan Taylor won the game for the LumberKings he would do so again. With one out and hte bases empty in the seventh inning, Taylor hit a home run over the left field wall, giving Clinton a 1-0 lead. Clinton pitching retired 13 Burlington Bees in a row to end the game, hanging on for the win.

Clinton starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (4-0) picked up the win while Tyler Watson (2-3) was charged with the loss. Joe Pistorese (1) earned the save. The Bees and the LumberKings continue the series on Wednesday at 6:30. Luis Pena makes the start for the Bees against Jefeson Medina for the LumberKings.
