San Jose Barracuda News Release
Cedar Park, TEX - After giving up the games first goal within the first two minutes, the San Jose Barracuda (7-1-0-1) scored six unanswered goals to roll to a 6-1 win over the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars) (4-3-1-1) on Saturday night at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
The Stars busted out of the gates with multiple opportunities in the first minute, and at 1:17 Denis Gurianov fired a point shot and Michael Mersch (3) deflected the puck through Antoine Bibeau's five-hole to give the Stars the early lead. Less than 70 seconds later, Jayden Halbgewachs (5) tied the game as he jammed in a Max Letunov pass past Colton Point from atop the crease at 2:33. One minute and one second later, Keaton Middleton (1) would give San Jose its first lead as he snapped a loose puck just inside the far right post from the left point at 2:33.
In the second, San Jose blew the game open with four goals to take a 6-1 lead through 40 minutes. After Point lost his goal-stick, Manny Wiederer (3) tipped a Jake Middleton shot through the netminders five-hole at 3:50. Jeremy Roy (1) then made it 4-1 when Lukas Radil dropped a pass for him as he gained the offensive blueline and Roy snapped a shot past a screened Point from atop the right circle at 14:24. Nick DeSimone (2) would end Point's night when he backhanded a loose puck in from close range. Point allowed five goals on 16 shots in 35 minutes and 36 seconds of work. In relief, Landon Bow would allow the first shot he faced from Letunov (5) through his five-hole to complete the four-goal second period, giving San Jose a 6-1 lead at 16:18.
In the third, San Jose rode its five-goal lead to the victory behind eight third-period saves from Bibeau.
Bibeau earned the win by making 20 saves on 21 shots. Point suffered the loss and Bow allowed one goal on 10 shots in 24 minutes and 24 seconds of game action.
