Game Day Build-Up: Senators vs. Griffins, October 27
October 27, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The set-up
After squaring off for the first time Friday, the Belleville Senators and Grand Rapids Griffins will do it all again Saturday.
Belleville (4-4-0-0) is back to .500 for the third time this season and will once again look to move that mark for the first time during the 2018-19 campaign.
Belleville's win Friday moved them into fifth place in the North Division and they have played one less game than the four teams above them in the standings. The Sens' 24.3% power play is ranked ninth in the AHL.
Grand Rapids (2-5-0-0) are still winless on the road this season having dropped all four contests away from home. The Griffins 19 goals are tied for the third lowest in the Western Conference.
Roster notes
The Senators recalled, and then quickly reassigned, goaltender Jake Paterson to Brampton Saturday.
With Mike McKenna getting the win Friday, Filip Gustavsson has already been confirmed as tonight's starting goaltender.
Previous history
The Senators hold a 1-0 advantage in the all-time series with Grand Rapids after Friday's 5-3 victory at CAA Arena. After tonight, the two teams will face off again Jan. 11-12 in Michigan.
Who to watch
Sens forward Jack Rodewald has been on a tear recently racking up seven points in his last six contests. Rodewald ranks third in team scoring, trailing only Drake Batherson and Rudolfs Balcers.
After being reassigned from Detroit, forward Christoffer Ehn made his AHL debut Friday. The 22-year-old Swede has played in nine NHL games with the Red Wings this season recording an assist.
Where to watch
Saturday's game starts at 7pm and can be seen on AHLTV. Fans can also watch tonight's contest at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.
The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call and David Foot on colour. Tickets are available.
