San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls, who led 3-2 with a minute remaining in regulation, dropped their first game at home vs. the San Jose Barracuda.

The Gulls took the lead early on a goal by Nick Ritchie, his team-leading ninth of the season, assisted by Stu Bickel and Brian McGrattan. After a fight between Gulls forward Joseph Cramarossa and Barracuda defenseman Gus Young, San Diego converted on a power play as San Jose goaltender Troy Grosenick let the puck trickle through his legs on a shot by Chris Mueller.

San Diego, who led 2-0 at the end of the first period, traded opportunities with San Jose before the Barracuda responded, shrinking the deficit to one with a goal by Barclay Goodrow, assisted by Jeremy Langlois and Mark Cundari.

After Gulls forward Stefan Noesen was called for tripping in the middle of the second frame, and the Gulls successfully killed the penalty, San Jose netted its second of the game, tying the score at two, this time by San Jose forward Bryan Lerg.

The remainder of the second period and much of the third was scoreless before Nic Kerdiles put the Gulls up by one with 6:15 remaining in the third. San Jose came back, tying the game on a goal by Scott Timmins with 24 seconds remaining in the game.

After a missed penalty shot opportunity by Brandon Montour in the overtime period, Jeremy Langlois converted in the shootout, giving the Barracuda the victory.

San Diego plays its second of back-to-backs vs. the Barracuda tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 14, at Valley View Casino Center. The Gulls look to take their first vs. the Barracuda at home this season.
